This webinar, hosted by DDW and supported by Evotec, will introduce untargeted metabolomics and lipidomics analyses, which are designed to accelerate research in complex biological systems. The webinar will begin with an overview of the principles behind untargeted approaches, highlighting their importance in capturing a comprehensive molecular snapshot without prior assumptions. You will gain insights into the advanced instrumentation powering these analyses, including key technical features, workflows, and data acquisition strategies that ensure high sensitivity and reproducibility. To illustrate the practical impact of these technologies, Michael Meret – a senior research scientist in the field of untargeted metabolomics – will present a case study in the field of autoimmune diseases. This example will demonstrate how metabolomic and lipidomic profiling can uncover novel biomarkers, paving the way for improved diagnostics and therapeutic strategies. This session will offer a clear understanding of how these platforms can support drug discovery programs, precision medicine and systems biology.

You will learn:

  • The principles of untargeted metabolomics and lipidomics approaches
  • About the technology and dedicated workflows
  • Applications to the drug discovery and precision medicine fields

About the speaker:

Méret is an organic chemist with a PhD from the University of Zürich. He entered untargeted metabolomics in 2009 at the Max-Planck-Institute of Plant Physiology and later helped found the metabolomics-focused company metaSysX, where he led both wet and dry labs. Since 2022, he has been a Senior Research Scientist at Evotec, overseeing untargeted metabolomics and lipidomics platforms.
