Working With Cyprotex

Cyprotex recognizes the importance of excellent customer service in gaining repeat business. More than 70% of customers return to Cyprotex for a second round of services. Each of our customers is assigned a dedicated and highly experienced Project Manager who manages the conduct of the services being performed for the customers and can also assist with study design and data interpretation. Often this involves Cyprotex being part of the customer’s project team meetings helping to make key decisions on future screening strategies.

We understand that the quality of the data delivered to our customers is extremely important as data may be required for regulatory submission or for making key decisions on whether to take molecules forward into development. Cyprotex has its own Quality Assurance Policy in place. Quality Procedures include staff training and supervision, Standard Operating Procedures, equipment validation and calibration, data recording and retention. These Quality Procedures are strictly followed to deliver robust and scientifically valid data to our clients.

  • Speed: Speeding up the time in which a drug reaches the market can dramatically reduce R&D costs during the drug discovery and development stages. Cyprotex offer rapid turnaround time with data for the majority of Cyprotex standard screens returned within 5-10 working days.
  • Price: Cyprotex has developed automated systems which are highly efficient and allow us to keep our costs lower. Our pricing is highly competitive and provides considerable value for our customers.
  • Confidentiality: Cyprotex does not in any circumstances disclose confidential information about its past, current or prospective customers outside the Company. This includes, without limitation, customer names, scientific information or data, pricing or financial information.

Latest update: October 2023

Meet Declan Hetherington, a Scientist 1 at Cyprotex, Evotec. With a BSc in Chemistry and a passion for science, Declan's journey began as a Laboratory Assistant in a COVID-19 Laboratory. Embracing the fast-paced environment, he quickly climbed the ladder to become a Laboratory Supervisor, leading a team of seven. His experience in late-stage drug development honed his precision and GxP
skills, but he missed the dynamic setting he once thrived in. Joining Cyprotex's Physical Chemistry team, Declan found his stride in early-stage drug discovery, where he works on solubility and pKa, making a tangible impact on people's lives through drug discovery. As a responsible and enthusiastic scientist, he ensures the smooth running of solubility assays and contributes to continuous improvements, embracing a culture that values growth and employee development. Declan is proud to be part of Cyprotex's scientific community, appreciating the freedom and opportunities that allow him to excel in his unique way.

Interests & Experience

Declan is dedicated to delivering top-quality scientific measurements and continuously improving services based on scientific advancements. With successful client relationships and long-term contracts, Declan's team understands the importance of every measurement they make. Outside of
work, Declan finds solace in outdoor activities like cycling and camping, often combining both in bike packing adventures. A passionate football fan, he enjoys watching Manchester City play and plays 5-a-side football with his colleagues. In quieter settings, Declan's creativity thrives, making him a valuable asset in the fast-paced laboratory environment. His commitment to innovation and scientific
excellence drives him both professionally and personally.

Latest update: October 2023

As a Senior Scientist at Cyprotex, Alex Williams embodies a passion for science rooted in her academic journey and personal values. Graduating with a 1st class BSc in Neuroscience from Leeds University, Alex's early desire to help others led her to the world of pharmacokinetics and ADME, igniting her fascination with personalized medicine's potential. Within her role, she supports the Permeability and Transporter team, focusing on high throughput permeability screening assays and data analysis. With a deep ADME understanding and logical approach, she validates assays, manages colleagues within the team, and ensures efficient workflows.

Alex's expertise spans compound permeability, drug distribution within the body, and transporter interactions. Beyond performing assays, she reviews and analyzes data, aiding in lead identification and optimization for partner drug development. Cyprotex's work significantly impacts drug discovery, enabling early-stage compound selection and predicting pharmacokinetics. Alex's dedication is fueled by the knowledge that her work aids in treating previously untreatable diseases, extending to safety evaluations for various sectors.
Her commitment to Cyprotex is rooted in its training programs, innovative projects, and a collaborative work environment. The rewarding nature of the work, opportunities for growth, and the sense of camaraderie among colleagues keep her motivated. Alex's journey from an Associate Scientist to a Senior Scientist exemplifies Cyprotex's recognition of dedication and hard work.

Interest and Experience

Alex's prime thinking occurs in fast-paced environments, where efficiency and innovation coincide. She flourishes creatively with project autonomy and thrives on collaborative discussions, generating fresh ideas and benefiting from feedback.
In her free time, Alex delights in cooking and baking, finding solace in experimentation and the art of making sourdough. Improved Healthcare

The pharmaceutical industry is one of Cyprotex’s key customer markets. Cyprotex has developed its own high throughput systems to screen potential new drugs more efficiently and more rapidly – speeding up the time it takes for the drug discovery process and reducing costs for our customers.

Additionally, Cyprotex invests in many R&D projects. Many of these are focused in the field of in vitro toxicology where Cyprotex is helping to develop more clinically relevant models. The ultimate outcome of our research is to bring safer drugs to the market with the best chance of clinical success. Cyprotex is currently involved in the CiPA initiative where we play an active role in the evaluation of new testing methods for cardiac safety.

Reduction in Animal Testing

Ethical concerns over animal testing are growing. Within the cosmetics industry this has led to a ban on animal testing for any new cosmetic product or their ingredients. For new pharmaceuticals, preclinical toxicity testing in animals is still a requirement of the regulatory authorities due to the risk to human health. Cyprotex focuses its screening services and research activities on in vitro and in silico methods believing that these technologies will help to reduce and replace animal testing in the future.

Suppliers & Partners

Cyprotex expects all suppliers and partners to work towards and uphold the highest ethical and moral standards. The company will, if appropriate, consider the ethical record of potential new suppliers before entering into any agreement. The company reserve the right to withdraw from any agreement or other arrangement with any supplier or partner who is found to have acted in contravention of the spirit or principles of our own ethical policy.

More details on our ethical policy and code of conduct can be found here.
