Compared with conventional fed-batch processes, J.TRAIN delivers over 10x higher productivity - more than 500 kg of drug substance in less than 10,000 square feet of cleanroom space per year. This efficiency substantially lowers operating costs per unit mass. Production scale can be flexibly adjusted by modifying the run duration rather than the size of the facility.

Option 1: Integration of J.TRAIN into a new facility design
For partners planning new manufacturing capacity, J.TRAIN can be incorporated into facility design from the outset. This approach enables facility layouts, workflows, utilities, automation, and operational readiness activities to be optimized around Just - Evotec Biologics’ continuous manufacturing platform.
Option 2: Retrofit of J.TRAIN into an existing facility
For partners with available shell space or underutilized infrastructure, J.TRAIN can be retrofitted into an existing facility. Just – Evotec Biologics supports facility design integration, installation, automation, CSV, commissioning, and qualification activities in close coordination with the partner.
Option 3: Turnkey J.TRAIN or J.POD® stand-alone facility
For partners seeking a dedicated manufacturing solution, Just – Evotec Biologics can support a turnkey J.TRAIN or J.POD stand-alone facility. This model has been validated through the Toulouse, France manufacturing site, which was designed and built by Just – Evotec Biologics in 2022, commissioned in 2024, and is now operated by Sandoz to produce multiple biosimilar products.
Rapid Deployment with a Structured Implementation Approach
J.TRAIN enables deployment of a continuous manufacturing platform in as little as 18 months. The initial 12 months focuses on the procurement of modular clean rooms and long-lead process equipment, while the host site prepares the necessary facility and utility infrastructure.
The remaining 6 months are dedicated to facility integration, commissioning, and qualification. Following utility tie-ins, validation of cGMP systems, and facility EMPQ, normal site operations can resume while equipment qualification and any necessary engineering runs are completed. This phased approach minimizes operational disruption while accelerating time to production.
