Early Drug Discovery in the Age of AI

Biography 

Dirk Winkler is leading Hit Identification at Evotec, a global function operating at various European and US sites. He started his industrial career in 1998 at Evotec. Dirk was involved and responsible for building and expanding various areas supporting drug discovery at Evotec. This includes Evotec’s biophysics and label free screening platform and other emerging technologies. He also is passionate about further developing Evotec’s screening collections. In his current role, he is in charge of Evotec’s global screening strategy and capabilities, covering a wide range of approaches and technologies from traditional target directed Hit ID, structure based, biophysical and label free approaches as well as phenotypic screens.

Biography 

Mark Brooks leads the Structural Biology team at Evotec Princeton, where he has been based since 2015 after transferring from Evotec UK to support the establishment of the New Jersey site. He played a key role in setting up the site’s X-ray Crystallography and X-ray Fragment Screening platforms, and has contributed significantly to the development of Protein Science capabilities on both sides of the Atlantic. Mark is passionate about leveraging modern high-performance computing and software solutions in structural biology. He specializes in designing and implementing bespoke computational pipelines to accelerate drug discovery research.
