Toulouse, often called "The Pink City" due to its distinctive terracotta buildings, is renowned for being a major hub for high tech industry such as medical research, biotechnology and the aerospace industry. It is famous for its passionate rugby culture with Stade Toulousain being one of the most successful rugby teams in France.
J.POD® Toulouse, France (EU) was built in just 18 months on a green-field site on Campus Curie. The approx. 15,000 sqm J.POD® facility was inaugurated in September 2024 and can deliver up to 2 metric tons of biotherapeutics each year. The site has its own quality control and process development labs for both clinical and commercial products, warehousing and office spaces designed to facilitate collaboration. Environmental sustainability has been built into the design leading to lower water, electricity, and chemical usage compared to conventional facilities.

This state-of-the-art facility brings additional and necessary biologics manufacturing capacity to Europe and offers a greatly needed alternative to standard fed-batch manufacturing that can constrain the ramp-up of production as biologics move from clinical to commercial scale. The J.POD® technology allows continuous biomanufacturing in modular facilities. It allows highly intensified and agile cGMP production of biologics that reduces scale-up risks and manufacturing costs.
