Protecting the environment through efficient management of resources and contributing to mitigate climate change is part of our approach to positively impact our society and the future of the planet.

We continuously review and improve our measures related to environmental matters, as well as develop new actions to mitigate our impact on climate change and lower our resource use.

Evotec commits to climate action and strives to improve the processes towards decarbonising its activities. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is one of the most ambitious actions related to climate change mitigation at Evotec. Establishing near-term carbon reduction targets aligned with the goals of the Paris Agreement to limit temperature rise to well-below 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels and pursuing efforts to attain Net-Zero by 2045.

These targets approved are:

1. To reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50.4% until 2032 from a 2021 base year, which is consistent with 1.5°C emissions scenarios.
2. To increase active annual sourcing of renewable electricity from 25% in the base year to 100% by 2026, and to continue through 2030.
3. To reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services as well as capital goods by 72% per million EUR value added over the same period. We also commit that 80% of our suppliers by emission of purchased goods and services and capital goods will have science-based emissions targets by 2027.
4. To reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 95% by 2045 and scope 3 GHG emissions by 97% per million EUR value added within the same timeframe.

We are further committed to decarbonise our activities to net-zero-GHG emissions by 2045 at the latest. This has been approved by the SBTi in October 2024 as being in line with a 1.5°C trajectory. To find out more about the initiative, visit their website.

If we want a healthy society, we need healthy ecosystems, in which there is enough space for all living species to act as a buffer against diseases. Consequently, protecting nature increases our resilience to diseases as well as having a beneficial effect on people’s mental health and wellbeing. This implies that we need to make use of resources in a responsible manner, including but not limited to energy and water. We are focused on managing waste efficiently.

1. Protect operational environment by reducing waste including plastic and mitigate our impact.
2. committed to be efficient in achieving water sustainable in our operations and ensure operation effluent has no impact on the receiving environments.
