Prof Dr Hanns Möhler is Vice Director of the Swiss National Center of Neuroscience Research, of which he was the first Director from 2000 to 2004. He has held a dual professorship at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH, Zurich) and the Medical Faculty of the University of Zurich as Director of the Institute of Pharmacology from 1988 to 2005. Prior to his academic career, he had extensive experience in industry as Vice Director in the Research Department of Hoffmann-La Roche, Basle, Switzerland, with a focus on Therapeutic Neuroscience.
Prof Möhler has ranked among the Highly Cited Researchers over the last 25 years. His discoveries, described in over 250 publications, inspired new therapeutic approaches for various psychiatric and neurological disorders, in particular, for the treatment of insomnias, anxiety disorders, memory deficits, schizophrenia and pain. Prof Möhler has been honoured with numerous prizes. He is a Member of the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences and the European Academy of Sciences.
