MedImmune/AstraZeneca: EVT 770

The loss of insulin producing beta cells is tightly linked to the development of diabetes. EVT 770 is a secreted molecule that has been identified in a screen for potential beta cell regeneration targets. It has been demonstrated that the factor can stimulate beta cell proliferation and neogenesis in vitro and in vivo. Evotec entered into a license and collaboration agreement via its subsidiary Develogen AG with MedImmune (the global biologics unit of AstraZeneca), to develop EVT 770 in the field of diabetes.
